Human beings have been weaving baskets for millennia, combining practical utility with astonishing creativity. In this workshop, we will explore different styles of basket construction as well as aspects of artistic design.
Starting with a round basket, students will practice basic basketry techniques by creating one finished piece that will be functional as well as beautiful.
Lee Zimmerman Nelson has taught fiber arts/basketry and exhibited widely for over 30 years. Her work has been featured in many venues, including the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Smithsonian and the White House. She maintains a full-time studio in Easton, MD on the Chesapeake Bay.
Material fees will be collected after the workshop based on each person’s use.
